What is YVariety?

cat yv ambassadorYVariety (Young Variety) is a young professionals networking group for 18-40 year olds with a purpose to not only raise funds for Variety but to assist our members in developing professionally, personally and philanthropically. We engage our members in challenging and quirky fundraising functions and events while providing opportunities for them to engage and interact directly with our beneficiaries and working with disadvantaged youth.

In order to differentiate YVariety from that of our peers and indeed, from the work of other Variety SA sub-committees, YVariety focuses energies on disadvantaged youth as the main beneficiaries of our fundraising activities.

If you would like to get involved in YVariety give us a call on 8293 8744 or simply complete the membership form to the right.

Rockwiz 2010 019.jpg2010 YV Rockwiz Meets Singing Bee

The annual YVariety ‘Rockwiz meets Singing Bee’ quiz night took place on 4 June at the recently re-developed, state of the art Sanctuary Function Centre at the Adelaide Zoo.  The sold out event did not disappoint with over 300 guests taking part in a hilarious night of musical knowledge and singing, hosted by the talented Libby O’Donovan.

Approximately $10,000 was raised on the night, with proceeds assisting Time For Kids. This fantastic result would not have been possible without the support from our event sponsors Constellation Wines for the delicious Goundrey Wines and YarraBurn Sparkling and Lion Nathan for Boags Pure beer. Also contributing to the fundraising on the night was a silent auction featuring a handful of fantastic items and a jelly bean count courtesy of Honey Bunch Bouquets.

The International Rugby Sevens tournament kicked off in Adelaide from 19-21 March. Variety SA is extremely proud to be the charity of choice for the tournament for the fourth year in a row. YVariety was out in force, all dressed in 'red' on the finals day, cheering on the teams and soaking up the festive atmosphere. The YV committee was on hand to collect donations from the punters and to raise awareness for YVariety and Variety.

YVariety held it's first movie night at Piccadilly Cinemas, North Adelaide on Wednesday 6 August. Approximately 200 people joined us to enjoy a pre-movie drink before watching the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth starring the gorgeous Katherine Heigl and the debonair Gerard Butler. The movie appealed to both guys and girls, with many a laugh out loud. Everyone had a great night out and we raised approximately $2,600 for youth at risk. Raffle winnners on the night were Catherine Longford, George Cassar, John Parolin, Emma Lyndon and Catherine Bishop. Congratulations all!

We would like to thank Kensi, Destination for Men, Dare Hair, Manna, Balaklava Cup, Joseph Uzumcu and Adelaide Hatters for their generous raffle prizes.
